BiblioSmart mainly uses cookies and local storage that are necessary for the app to work. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies in the current version.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Local storage keeps preferences on your device.
2. Essential cookies
Authentication (NextAuth / Auth.js): keeps you signed in. Legal basis: contract / legitimate interest.
Theme (cookie `theme` and/or localStorage `bibliosmart-theme`): light/dark mode.
Language (localStorage `bibliosmart-locale`): UI language.
Cookie consent (localStorage `bibliosmart-cookie-consent`): records that you acknowledged the notice and its version.
3. Functional storage (not tracking)
localStorage `bibliosmart-api-key-skip`: remembers if you postponed API key setup — UI convenience only.
4. Optional / analytics cookies
We currently do NOT use Google Analytics, Plausible, Vercel Analytics, or similar. If we add them, we will update this policy, request consent before activation, and offer opt-out.
5. Third parties
Covers and metadata may load from third-party domains (Open Library, Google Books, Vercel Blob). Those sites may set their own cookies when visited directly; our app fetches resources server-side or via URL without in-app cross-site tracking.
6. How to manage
You can clear cookies and local storage in browser settings. Clearing session cookies will sign you out.
